Summer Conference FAQs

  • What is SuCo again? RUF Summer Conference (SuCo) is held in Laguna Beach, Florida the week after finals May 11-16th to gather with over 1,000 other college students from all over the country. We'll relax, hear some great teaching, sing, eat, talk and play together. It's basically the best week of the year and a perfect way to finish a well-fought semester.   • How do RUF SuCo Scholarships work? PLEASE DON"T LET THE COST KEEP YOU FROM ATTENDING SUCO! We have money set aside by UNT RUF's donors specifically to help send our students to SuCo, so we have funds available (ranging anywhere from $25-$375 per person) to anyone who needs financial help getting down to Laguna. If you want to come to SuCo but need financial assistance please let Justin know - after we chat, I'll send you a "Discount Code" which you can apply to your registration on the final payment page.
  • Where is RUF SuCo? How will we get there? We will be spending the week at Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center in Panama City Beach, FL. Laguna has a "campus" that is right on the white sand beaches of PCB, so it's pretty great. To get down there, we'll be road-tripping down/back together leaving on Sunday afternoon May 10th (it's part of the fun!) and spending the night in Mississippi on the way down. Alternatively, if you need (or prefer) to fly in/out/roundtrip from PCB you can definitely do that- the closest airport (about 20 mins.) to Laguna is "Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport."
  • When are the dates for RUF SuCo? This year SuCo officially begins at 2pm (registration) on Monday 5/11 and concludes at 9am on Saturday 5/16... but we’ll leave early morning of Saturday 5/16 to get back in Denton that evening.
  • What does the $375 registration fee cover? The $375 registration fee covers food and lodging from 5/11-5/16 in PCB, however you’ll be on your own for a few meal on the drive to/from PCB (we’ll stop at reasonable/fast-food type: read EVERY Chic-fil-a) as well as helping out with gas, any books/souvenirs you might want, and one “nice” meal out ($15-20). I usually suggest at least $75-100 of extra spending money.
  • Do I need to pay anything up front? Yes, to reserve your spot you need to put down $75. Which is is non-refundable after 7 days.
  • Will we have free time to hangout/rest/play on the beach? YES! Every afternoon is wide-open free time for you to chill, take a nap, swim, play volleyball or whatever!

  • What Seminars will be offered? Each morning consists of 2 one-hour seminars, and you may choose to attend which ever ones (2 two-day, 1 four-day) look most interesting to you. You can see the list of topics here. OK sounds great: Where do I sign up?!!!
